National Historic Trail

The Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail follows the route of the Revolutionary War patriot militia that trekked through the mountains of Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

These patriots ended their journey at Kings Mountain North Carolina, where they defeated the British army. Portions of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail can be hiked through Lake James State Park and the 1780 community on Lake James.  For more information on the more than 300 miles of Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, please visit the National Park Service website.
